  1. // Stunning Valentines Wedding at Drapers Hall

    Drapers Hall, ShrewsburyDrapers Hall was built in 1576, just over a century after the Shrewsbury Drapers Company was granted a royal charter by Edward IV, and wealthy drapers commissioned some of the finest buildings in the town.

    Drapers Hall is a timber framed building constructed for the Drapers Guild. Altered in the 18th Century and restored in the early 20th Century.The original 17th-century oak furniture is still in use in the restaurant. The band had to move some of the very heavy banqueting tables to make way for a performance area. That was a tense moment.

    This stunning building was the venue for the band’s performance at a Valentines Wedding. The band performed 2 sets of ABBA’s Greatest Hits while the newly weds and their families danced the night away. Sensation included the classic I do i do i do i do i do for the Bride and Groom to dance to.

  2. // The Venue

    Sensation at The Venue HalifaxSensation – ABBA Tribute Band are no strangers to The Venue as they have been playing there since 2011. The Venue is nestled in the heart of the Blackburn Valley in Barkisland near Halifax.

    The Venue is situated in Bower’s Mill. Bower’s Mill was built in the 18th century as a water-powered fulling mill. Tt has also been used as a corn mill , a worsted mill and a woolen mill . Textiles manufacturer J. & S. Taylor Ltd occupied the mill from 1882 to 1991 before moving production to Sowerby Bridge . The mill has now been converted for businesses and the Venue is one of them.

    The Venue hosts Tribute and Party nights throughout the year as well as producing some of the best food the band have tasted. The band have also performed their 80s Tribute Show (link to into the 80s website) here.

  3. // Sensation at The Sands

    Sensation at The Sands BlackpoolSensation have been performing at the The Sands Venue, Blackpool for a few years now and it is a venue unlike any other in the UK. The Sands Venue, Blackpool, offers a unique and sophisticated blend of first class live entertainment in Blackpool and top quality cuisine! This sensational gem located on Blackpool Promenade (just seconds from The Blackpool Tower) recreates the feel of the forties and fifties with starlit ceiling, candlelit tables and stylish decor. Taking you back to those wonderful variety nights with outstanding service and exquisite food. Prepared to be indulged!

    Sensation perform 2 sets at this stunning venue each time they visit. They are always welcomed and have fantastic audiences who know how to have a good time. Sensation look forward to their next performance at The Sands.

  4. // Oake Manor Weekend

    Oake manor golf clubSensation performed their second weekender at the fantastic Oake Manor Golf Club in November 2014. Both events SOLD OUT in record time which was fantastic for the band and venue. Again Sensation performed their 70′s & 80′s Sensation Tribute Show on the Friday and Sensation – ABBA Tribute Band on the Saturday. This clearly is a format that works very well for Oake Manor and certainly brought in a fantastic audience both nights. Big thanks go out to Steve, Dave and Mikey P who the band have gotten to know over the years and are a big reason why Sensation love performing at this venue so much.

  5. // Guernsey

    Guernsey Princess Royal Performing Arts CentreIn November 2014 Sensation made their third trip to Guernsey. This time the band were performing for the Young People of Guernsey’s Charity Ball. Sensation performed their ABBA & 70’s Disco show for a sold out audience who raised £19,500 for the charity which runs The HUB, a support service for children and young people. The audience were on top form, fancy dress was very popular and the dance floor was full all night.

    Jane St Pier, chair of YPG, said this was the most successful musical fundraising event yet.‘It was a tremendously exuberant night and we are extremely grateful to all those that supported us: the donors of magnificent auction prizes, those who attended the sold out event in such wonderful costumes, and particularly Investec Private Banking who provided the sponsorship that made the evening possible,’ she said.

  6. // Akamba Heritage Centre

    Akamba Heritage CentreIn the depths of the West Midlands there is a little bit of Kenya at a place called Akamba. Sensation were lucky enough to perform 2 shows at this unique venue. Akamba is an African Garden centre. Founded in 2002 after years of growing hardy exotic plants but never being able to buy them locally, The owner decided to source and import them himself, The plants combined with a love for African art created the perfect recepie for an African garden centre. Sensation performed in the beautiful Tribute Eatery which is so authentic. For 2 of the members who have spent time in Africa they said it was just like being back there.

    In the garden centre there are lots of lifesized metal sculptures of animals, sculpted by the world famous Kenyan artist Kioko Mwitiki. It is a truly a site to be seen.

  7. // Rebellion Festival

    Rebellion Festival logoSensation were asked by the wonderful Jennie Russell Smith to do a special performance at the Rebellion after show party in memory of a special person – Sharky. Sharky was at the festival every year helping out and the band met him on a couple of occasions.

    It was such sad news to hear that Sharky had passed away and Jennie said “He loved the Abba Sensation shows and it would be perfect if you played.” Sensation were honoured to perform for everyone and the band hope they did Sharky proud. RIP Sharky.

  8. // Ikea Crayfish Party

    Ikea logoFor the 3rd year running Sensation – ABBA Tribute Band were asked back to perform at the Wembley Ikea Crayfish party. The crayfish party is a long held Swedish tradition and takes place every year in Scandinavian countries to celebrate the first day of the crayfish harvest of these tasty crustaceans. The annual crayfish parties are usually a raucous event with tonnes of tasty crayfish being cooked up, themed hats, decorations and bibs, singing traditional crayfish songs, dancing and of course drinking the all important schnapps. Sensation again had a fantastic time dancing with the staff and guests at Ikea Wembley in between them eating their crayfish and drinking schnapps.

  9. // Summer Sound Gisborough Priory

    Summer Sound Gisborough PriorySenstion travelled up north to perform at the Summer Sound Festival for the 2nd year running. This year the event was at the incredible Gisborough Priory. Gisborough Priory is a ruined Augustinian priory in Guisborough. It was founded in 1119 as the Priory of St Mary. It became one of the richest monastic foundations in England. Much of the Romanesque Norman priory was destroyed in a fire in 1289. It was rebuilt in the Gothic style on a grander scale over the following century. Its remains are regarded as among the finest surviving examples of early Gothic architecture in England.

    The band performed in front of the stunning ruins of the priory church to a energetic crowd of festival goers. It may have been a wet evening but the band and audience sure had a fantastic time.

  10. // Thorp Perrow Arboretum

    Thorp Perrow ArboretumAt the start of July Sensation had the absolute pleasure of performing at Thorp Perrow Arboretum. This 85 acre arboretum is unique to Britain, if not Europe, in that it was the creation of one man, Colonel Sir Leonard Ropner (1895 – 1977) and is now owned and managed by Sir John Ropner.

    A walk around the Arboretum can be a journey of plant discovery that takes you around the continents of the world; with many of the tree and shrub genera and species planted having origins in China, Japan, North America, Chile, and Europe. Sensation performed 2 sets out in the fresh air in amoungst the “Champion trees”, it was truly a night the band will never forget. The sun was shining and the guests all sang and danced along with the band in this most magical setting.
